Rock of the Westies
Rock of the Westies est l'album le plus rock d'Elton John : la majorité des chansons est accompagnée de guitarres électriques lourdes, et la voix du king Pop est plus agressive que jamais. Malheureusement, c'est la production qui fait défaut : le mixage dessert la musique en mettant en avant des guitarres plus ronflantes que percutantes. On peut donc en vouloir à Gus Dudgeon, pourtant brillant producteur de la meilleur période d'Elton John (Captain Fantastic, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, etc.). Néanmoins, Rock of the Westies n'en reste pas moins riche et varié ; il en fallait plus à l'époque pour atteindre l'inépuisable génie créatif d'Elton. On ne peut donc manquer cet album contenant des chef-d'oeuvres tels que Dan Dare (Pilot of the Future), Island Girls ou encore Billy Bones and the White Bird.
Rock of the Westies
Album assez méconnu de la star des années 70, pourtant lorqu'il joue du rock and roll, Elton John est le meilleur ! Assez proche des Rolling Stones par moment , cet album respire la joie et on éprouve beaucoup de plaisir à l'écouter !
